The photos below are of friend and student Joe B. Joe is 71 years young, in great shape and has lots of strength. Joe and his amazing wife Sarah came to me a few months ago and said they work out all the time, but feel their balance could be improved. I noticed his hamstrings were a bit tight and showed him what I think is an easy way to stretch them by using a door way (pictured below). There is no straining and you can see how relaxed he is doing it. He does it 5 minutes per side. In the other photo, you can see him doing some balancing and how well he’s doing it! Each week I see him moving a bit easier and hope finding some ease in these new movements. In my opinion, lots of varied movements are best to keep switching it up as the muscles are smart and will adapt. Helping someone balance better involves lots of different things, such a strength, flexibility, proprioception and then some. I love seeing someone who is so willing to try new things and learn. Joe you are inspirational to me, and for people who say they are to old, have no flexibility, strength or anything else, they can see you and be inspired !

Its never to late to benefit from all the great things yoga and some of these movements have to offer.  I say its anti-ageing!
