Is there a formula or guide lines on how much one needs to do for their bodies to keep everything working and feeling great?
As far as I know, there is not.
Here is what I have learned in my own body.
Every decade or so, I have to readjust and add some things and maybe take away some things.
I love to take long walks and in my 20s & 30s, I could do 6/7 mile walks and maybe do 5 minutes of stretching or none at all and I would feel great. Now, in my fifties I need to do a bunch more and I mean a bunch!!
Its like I was juggling with 2 balls in my 20s & 30’s, 4 in my 40s and so on. Its easy to juggle with 2 balls and you really don’t have to think about it so much. Each time I add a new “ball” to my routine I get all discombobulated.
I have to learn a new way to juggle and balance a new routine. Here is what I know for sure in my own body, if I’m willing to readjust and spend a few more minutes, my body feels great and those little aches & pains or issues that will arise (and they will arise) melt away.
For me its so worth the extra time, because I want to stay active and continue to take my long walks and go paddle boarding and do yoga and anything else I want. I recently took up bouldering (small rock climbing) and I love it and it added another layer of things I needed to for my body. I readjusted and it worked out!
How many balls are you willing to juggle to keep it all feeling fabulous?
